Chief Mike Yankowski said one of the police officers used a training technique, a strike to the thigh, in order for the officer to remove the 16-year-old’s leg from the vehicle.
He said the LPD internal affairs unit is investigating this unit. A second boy was also involved in this arrest, who Yankowski said kicked a patrol vehicle and caused damage to the back of it
Yankowski said the female officer was injured in the incident so she is off work until further notice. She had cuts, scrapes and a strain to one of her hands
Police were there to serve apprehension orders for runaways, escape from custody and probation violations. Because they were juveniles, their names will not be released
