ScribbleLive to power exclusive behind-the-scenes coverage at the XXII Olympic Winter Games.
February 3, 2014—TORONTO—Scribble Technologies Inc, (Scribble,http://www.scribblelive.com/) today announced that the Canadian Olympic Committee is using ScribbleLive, the world’s leading end-to-end content engagement platform, to power their live behind-the-scenes experiences for the Winter 2014 Games. The committee’s decision to use ScribbleLive comes alongside the re-launch of Olympic.ca and the ‘fans first’ focus that led design and development of the new site.
“We re-launched Olympic.ca to better connect our community of Canadian Olympic fans to the Canadian Olympic Team itself, no matter where either happens to be,” said Todd Denis, Director, Brand Connections of the Canadian Olympic Committee. “Ensuring that the fan community can engage during the Games is dependent on unique perspectives and real-time experiences. ScribbleLive provides the easiest and most efficient way to make this happen.”
“We are thrilled to welcome the Canadian Olympic Committee to our ever-growing client base. The sports vertical has been a tremendous contributor to our growth, and played a large role in Scribble surpassing 3 billion user engagement minutes in January,” said Vince Mifsud, Chief Executive Officer of Scribble. “Clients like the COC continue to inspire us in the development of innovative fan engagement solutions.”
Leading up to the opening ceremonies, Olympic.ca will be running a series of live events to keep fans up to date with Team Canada’s preparations for the games. The first of these events was the live announcement of the Sochi 2014 Ski Cross Team on January 27th, which combined photos and updates from the official announcement with relevant tweets, comments from viewers, and fan polls for a completely engaging experience.
Once the Sochi Games kick off on February 7th, Olympic.ca will launch a ScribbleLive-powered fan hub at live.olympic.ca featuring: behind-the-scenes at Canada Olympic House in Sochi; on-the-ground photos from fans, athletes and coaches; real-time updates of sporting events and Team Canada’s standings; inclusion from reporters based in both Sochi and Canada; social media updates from athletes, coaches, and sponsors; and special flashbacks to Great Canadian Moments from past Olympic Games.
Users will have the option of taking in the entire fan hub or filtering coverage for more event and sport-specific content. In both cases, the end product will be unprecedented behind-the-scenes access to the Canadian Olympic Team at the Games.
“Much of this initiative’s success will come from the fact it isn’t just a matter of recycling and repurposing existing coverage into a new format,” said Denis. “Throughout the Games, Olympic.ca and ScribbleLive will be providing a unique gateway to the biggest sporting event in the world – we’ll be generating an exclusive perspective on the Canadian Olympic Team, one that fans and traditional media don’t usually have access to.”
