Dan McQuillan
"This is a 'knowing' crowd he says - and he knows people are serious about these changes." Focus on challenges.
It's all going to be about power and how power is used. Things get 'inverted' he says - what you thought might happen does not. There are persvers effects from some of these changes.
Care in the community used as example, what happens when things get taken over, ended up creating prisons in the community #mps09
The constraints might not make you feel powerful he says.
Struggle is necessary, more struggle than there is at the moment #mps09
Shout out for Transition Towns and how can make change happen locally and make community in process...transformation, participation #mps09
Closing plenary of #mps09 now liveblogging here:
bit.ly #amp09 @danmcquillan now speaking
Most ppl here clearly arent driven to get money....if you are, you're in the wrong place #mps09
How do we make the changes that we feel need to be made - in an era of constraints and where we may see ideological change in the nexy few months.
We only need £ to sustain, business know need to change, but money isnt changing, still going same places. Challenge: is down to us? #mps09
"We are about chnage whether we like it or not" and we have the opportunity t influence that change.
#mps09 we can tap into passion, energy and being human. :-) not on top down power...
"But we're not just talking about public services" how can we deal with the scale challenge? Wrong question. It's not about that - it's about connecting and energy and passion for change. We can't and shouldn't try to come up with terms that cleverly define us. We need to capitalise on the idea of the 'commons'.
We can tap into passion, energy, being human...that's what government cant tap into...shd recognise as strength #mps09
The 'commons' really exist and they are ours says @danmcquillan
Look at what we're good at...the edge and on margins stuff...ppl who dont have a voice or the issues that are never tackled #mps09
The strength is at the edge not the centre.
Strength at the edges, not at the centre #mps09
The commons encompasses all of the things we need to develop new spaces to grow into. There needs to be a sort of 'ecological' balance.
Ecology, need coexist with key players, true for future. Need balance. Only way get to survive if develop clear alternative vision #mps09
#mps09 how do we tackle creating a better life, a better reality? Develop a clear alternative vision- for transforming ourselves!
Transformation is about imagination. Transformative services - that's just jargon - it's actually about transforming ourselves. It's about having an effect.
Need transform ourselves, real problem is in here, not out there. Explore how can make an impact differently, new way of doing things #mps09
Digital is about making an impact and it is helping to make a change.
. @danmcquillan: 'do you have any idea how many years I spent trying to have an effect before I discovered the web?!' #mps09
Sounds like @danmcquillan is on form. Go Dan! #mps09
Paul Hodgkin
Now handing out cards for each participant - write your heart's desire on one half of the card and the thing you're going to do on the other half. They'll be collected up at the end.
All the cards will be photographed and put into Flkr. Now applause for those who brought the baking!
#mps09 Paul Hodgkin: "resolve, fun and motivation are important... ...and the web can play a part in helping them."
[Now an avalanche of thanking and lots of warm feelings in the room as James Munro does a good job of closing the event after a very long day.]

I have had a really good day at #mps09 - haven't felt that engaged at an event for a while. Thank you to those who organised & contributed
It feels like the beginning of something - he says there is still along way to go - and he says it maybe a quiet beginning of something important.
