Western Standard liveblogs the Leaders' Debate
- Tonight's the 'big night,' the one and only English-language debate between the party leaders before the election. I'll be joined by a few of my colleagues from The Shotgun, giving you live commentary as the debate proceeds. My fingers are crossed, hoping that they'll get asked the question we all want to know the answer to: "If elected, will you support an amendment to remove Section 13 from the Canadian Human Rights Act?"by Kalim Kassam at 10/2/2008 11:01:42 PM
- I watched the French debate yesterday (in English). I thought Layton did well, and Dion and May floundered (Duceppe was good). Something must have gotten lost in the translation, however, since the polls are clear that Dion either won, or came in a close second.
For example:
"The online poll found 40 per cent of voters said Mr. Dion won the debate, compared with 24 per cent who gave the contest to Bloc Québécois Leader Gilles Duceppe. Harper's performance in the Quebec debate was generally recieved poorly in Quebec and Conservative support has collapsed, with the Bloc benefitting huge.
