RT @WorshipRises: Artists - it's a new world. Our EP hit #2 on Christian chart & #20 on the full iTunes Canada chart w $0 on marketing.
Taking a tour of the Elevation campus now
Some very interesting discussion going on about the new FCC regulations on the 700 MHz range
These guys really know their stuff, that's for sure!
One danger of operating Mics in the restricted 700 MHz range is that those ranges now belong to Cell Phones. As new mobile devices become available in those ranges if you're mics are in that range they will experience interference.
Here's a post from a few weeks ago on the whole 700 MHz deal

It's important to find what spectrum is available to you before you buy a wireless solution for your church
Starting the Troubleshooting Audio Systems Course. The whole day is worth it even just for this session.
Troubleshooting and Problem solving is such a big part of the tech/church

In the mixing techniques for FOH session
Make sure you know all of your sound board, not just the parts you use frequently
How much eq on a board's channel strip is ok? Cutting frequencies is better than boosting
Boosting the level of your mids and sweeping the filter will make your trouble frequency worse, but then you'll be able to cut that frequency
But only do this during soundcheck!!
Using a notch filter to take out the problematic frequency can help solve feedback issues

Talking about the basics of compression now
Just because you CAN add alot of effects and really eq your sound.. Doesn't mean you always should
Compression "squeezes" audio. Makes your louds softer and your softs louder.
Learning more about the FCC regulations on wireless mic users
The Teaching on the new FCC regulations really helps put it in perspective, and understand why it happened
Talking about frequency coordinating a wireless system, and troubleshooting a purposely "ruined" wireless mic
This is all really hands on material
Talking about using the frequency finder section of Sennheiser's site
This is the material you don't/won't really get anywhere else. If you use wireless mics.. The RF portions of the conference are well worth it.
Just because your set up is complex doesn't mean it's the best setup or even the most effective. Complexity doesn't equal better.
A big point to stress.. Before you purchase any Wireless equipment, test and plan. See what works in your area (frequency wise) and make sure your equipment works together.
