No surprises with Kansas and Kentucky at #1 and #2...Duke is somewhat of a surprise at #3. The committee really took the Onaku injury for Syracuse into consideration...which to me seems somewhat unfair
Syracuse should be fine out west though
WOW! Michigan State fell all the way to a #5 seed? And Maryland is a #4 in the same bracket. That definitely seems like it should be reversed
Looks like Kansas might have their hands full with Michigan State in the Sweet Sixteen
Surprised that Ohio State got put in the same bracket as Kansas. I would have thought they would have been one of the strongest #2 seeds
Kansas definitely does not have an easy road with Ohio State, Georgetown and the 2 teams that beat them during the regular season in Oklahoma State and Tennessee
Should be a great first-round matchup with Oklahoma State and Georgia Tech in the 7-10 game. Those are 2 athletic, talented teams that could be dangerous in the tournament.
TOUGH game for Syracuse in the second round with Gonzaga...would have thought Gonzaga would get a higher seed
Although Gonzaga seems to get screwed almost every year
Great game between UTEP and Butler in the first round...I might even have to give the edge to UTEP
Syracuse got pushed out West and got the 4th overall #1 seed but I like their path much better than the draw Kansas got
Vanderbilt is a pretty weak #4 seed. Better than Michigan State? I don't think so
I agree with Seth...good for Minnesota to get in. They really came on strong at the end of the year including that 25 point thrashing of Purdue in the Big Ten tourney
Other than having to play Gonzaga in the second round I would feel pretty good about the draw if I'm Syracuse. I think Pittsburgh beat them once in the regular season but you can't really avoid all the solid teams in the Big East
Hmm interesting second round matchup with Kentucky and Texas...I know Texas really fell off but they were #1 earlier in the year
Man...I was thinking that Cornell and Temple could be potential first round upsets...now they're playing each other
West Virginia looked pretty upset about their bid...not sure why they wouldn't like the #2 slot
#3 is pretty high for New Mexico...they better live up to that kind of ranking
Well I like the strength of Kentucky's bracket. There's at least 4 or 5 teams that could make a run and get out of that bracket
We better see Notre Dame show up in this final bracket. They definitely deserve a spot in the tournament. I have a feeling that Virginia Tech is going to be one of the first teams left out again
Oh wow! Tough 8 and 9 matchup in the South with Louisville and Cal
Duke will have their hands full in Round 2
7 seed for Richmond??? Really?
What?? Baylor is a #3
This South bracket is pretty crazy
Alright...nice work for Notre Dame...they were sweating it out when they probably didn't need to
So who's left out? Virginia Tech for one
ACC gets 6 teams in the tournament? That seems way too high. Duke, Maryland, GT, Wake, and who else?
Mississippi State got absolutely robbed with that SEC championship game today...now they don't even get a chance to make a tournament run
I do feel bad for Seth Greenburg and Virginia Tech though. Only 8 losses and they're one of the first teams left out again after missing out the last couple years as well
Ahh Florida State and Clemson were the other 2 ACC teams to get in...I guess they were deserving
Seriously where did Baylor come from though? Were they ever ranked higher than 20 throughout the year? They didn't make a big run through the Big 12 tourney. Seems weird to me
Alright...that's it for now. Even though UNC being absent makes it a little bit less fun, I'm starting to get excited for this year's tournament
My bold predictions after seeing the bracket once:
Final Four: Kansas, Syracuse, West Virginia, Notre Dame
I realize that's very Big East heavy...but we'll see what happens
Kansas vs. West Virginia for the title
Desean Butler with the game-winner. West Virigina 2010 NCAA champions!
I'm sure my Final Four picks will change by the end of the night...that's what I have for now though
