CRICKET DESK: It's come down to a game that neither of today's teams would have wanted to play. South Africa and Sri Lanka are both already out of the tournament before the end of the group stages. It will be a bitter pill for either team to swallow but, if you'll excuse the cliche, this is still an international match and there is pride to play for.
TEAM NEWS: Sri Lanka's captain Angelo Mathews is almost certain to miss out today after picking up a hamstring injury in his team's last game. New from the ground would also suggest that Dale Steyn might be re-called for the Proteas.
TOSS: SA win the toss and elect to bowl first.
TEAM NEWS: Three changes for SA. Kagiso Rabada, Chris Morris and Rilee Rossouw are out while Kyle Abbott, Dale Steyn and Farhaan Behardien are in. SL have made two injury-enforced changes with Angelo Mathews and Dushmantha Chameera are out with Suranga
Lakmal and Shehan Jayasuriya the new men.

PITCH REPORT: There is a touch of green grass on the pitch but there are a few cracks. There should be a touch of bounce in the wicket which will make SA's fast bowlers happy. Should be a decent batting wicket though.
FIRST OVER: The anthems and huddles are over and play is about to get underway. Dale Steyn will open the bowling with Chandimal on strike. Just a hint of swing from Steyn and he beats the outside edge of the bat with his third delivery but Chandimal then clips a delivery over short fine leg for four. SL 5-0 after one over.
NEW-BALL PAIR: Kyle Abbott will share the new-ball duties. Abbott starts with a no-ball but Chandimal can only pick up a single off the free-hit. Abbott bowls a bouncer that takes off over the batsman and the keeper's head before running away for four byes. SL 14-0 after two overs.

Steyn tries a bouncer to Chandimal with the batsman pulling the ball high over deep square leg for six! Chandimal hammers the next ball over mid-on for four. This has become a big over. Sixteen runs off it in fact and Sri Lanka are 30-0 after just three overs.
BETTER: That's probably the best over of the innings so far from Abbott, for the bowlers anyway, as he concedes just four runs off his over. SL 34-0 after four overs.
WICKET: Phangiso is on for a bowl and Dilshan sweeps the first ball of the over past square leg for four before Dilshan hops down the wicket to murder the ball over wide long-on for six! Phangiso strikes as Chandimal drives loosely at a straight delivery and is bowled! SL 45-1 in the fifth over.
WICKET: Two wickets in two balls for Phangiso as he turns a delivery in to the left-handed Thrimanne and the ball darts between bat and pad to bowl the batsman. SL 45-2. Phangiso will have to wait to try for his hat-trick as his over is at an end.
POWERPLAY ENDS: Imran Tahir bowls a wonderful over as he concedes just two runs off his over and SL are 47-2 after the six powerplay overs.
HAT-TRICK BALL: Siriwardana will face Phangiso's hat-trick ball. Siriwardana pokes the ball past point for a single. SL reach 50-2 after 6.3 overs. Dilshan then sweeps a delivery down behind backward square leg for four.

SMASH: Dilshan smears a Tahir free-hit over midwicket for four.
WICKET: Siriwardana hammers a Phangiso delivery straight back past the bowler for four. Siriwardana then plinks a delivery towards Du Plessis at short midwicket and sets off for a single. He changes his mind and tries to turn to regain his ground but he is run out as he can't beat Du Plessis' throw to keeper De Kock. SL 95-3 in the 10th over.

WICKET: SL are in freefall now as Kapugedera doesn't pick a Tahir googly and he plays a drive only for the ball to dart back between bat and pad before crashing into the stumps. SL have slumped to 85-6 in the 14th over.
SHOT: SA turn to pace again in the form of Dale Steyn, not sure why considering how well the slower bowlers have gone, and Perera hammers the first ball back over the bowler's head for four.
WICKET: What do I know, the pace works. Steyn strikes as Perera slaps a delivery straight to Behardien at mid-on. SL 96-7 after 15 overs.
100 UP: Dasun takes SL to 105-7, in the 17th over, as he hammers a Behardien delivery back over the bowler's head for six.
WICKET: Abbott has a well-deserved wicket as Herath spars at a delivery outside his off stump only to send an outsid edge through to keeper De Kock. SL 109-8 in the 18th over.
19th OVER: Dale Steyn will bowl the penultimate over of the innings. Vandersay on strike. Single off the second ball of the over. Dasun flicks a full toss down to fine leg for four. SL 119-8 after 19 overs.
LAST OVER: Abbott to bowl with Dasun on strike. Single off the first ball.
WICKET: Bowled him! Vandersay is out as he tries to run a delivery down to third man only for the ball to crash into the wickets. SL 120-9.

CRICKET DESK: South Africa turned ina fine performance in the field as they bowled SL out for 120 off 19.3 overs. Abbott, Phangiso and Behardien all picked up two wickets apiece while Dilshan top scored for Sri Lanka with 36.
SOUTH AFRICA INNINGS: SA need just 121 to win but it's been a funny old tournament and the Proteas would do well not to take this run chase too lightly. Amla will face the first ball to be bowled by off-spinner Jayasuriya. De Kock has the first boundary as he cracks a delivery through the covers for four before the squeezes a delivery down to third man for four more. SA 9-0 after one over.
WICKET: Lakmal offers up a touch of width and Amla cuts the ball firmly past point for four. That is terrible running from SA. Amal punches a delivery towards Dilshan at point. There was no run there but De Kock just set off for a single before turning back but he cannot beat Dilshan's direct hit. SA 13-1 in the second over.
SHOT: That is a cracking shot from Amla as he whips a Lakmal delivery through midwicket for four. SA 23-1 in the fourth over.
DROPPED: Amla hammers a delivery towards mid-off where Thirimanne dives to try and take a one-handed catch but he puts the tough chance down.

POWERPLAY OVER: Sri Lanka will not be too unhappy with that powerplay as they have held SA to 34-1 after six overs.
FOUR: SA have been ambling along but Du Plessis breaks the shackles as he sweeps a Herath delivery past wide mid-on for four. SA 49-1 after nine overs.
50 UP: Du Plessis sweeps a Vandersay delivery to deep square leg for a single to take SA to 50-1 in the 10th over. Du Plessis than plays a fine cover drive four four before hammering a delivery past square leg for four more. SA 59-1 after 10 overs and need 62 runs off 60 balls to win.
INJURY: Amla and Du Plessis scamper two runs but Thirimanne pulls up with a hamstring injury and has to be helped from the field. That's not good news for Sri Lanka. SA 64-1 in the 11th over.
WICKET: Sri Lanka finally taste success as Du Plessis tries to ramp a Lakmal delivery delivery only to be given out leg-before. Du Plessis does not seem happy with that decision and there was some bat involved. SA 75-2 after 13 overs and need 45 runs from 42 balls.
BOUNDARY: Amla moves to 41 as he cuts a Vandersay delivery behind point for four. SA 89-2 after 15 overs amd need 32 runs off 30 balls to win.

SA WIN: De Villiers wins the match in style as he hammers a full toss from Lakmal over deep midwicket for six!
