Join us for live blogging from the Saturday, March 28th, Morning Plenary Session at 9am.
Good morning! We'll be getting started in 10 minutes....
[AM PLENARY] Good morning! I'm Hanna from the Donor Relations department -- music from Lamont starting off a great morning of prayer.
Blair Burns (IJM S Asia regional director) introing IJM regional director for SE Asia Kaign Christie
Kaign's team rescued approx. 140 girls from forced prostitution over a period of 3 years -- approx 60 perpetrators convicted too.
[AM PLENARY] Kaign has the title 'His Excellency' in Cambodia :)
[AM PLENARY]
[AM PLENARY] "May the words that are brought this morning be useful...edifying..." KC
[AM PLENARY] "Today we'll be talking about CRYING out to God for the oppressed" KC
[AM PLENARY] As you go through the prayer rooms and hearing stories of oppression, ' Everything within you is going to want to CRY out to God for help...'
[AM PLENARY] Luke 18:6-8 'Listen to what the unjust judge says, and will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who CRY OUT to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?...'
[AM PLENARY] Exodus 22.21
[AM PLENARY] Ezekial 22.27-29 'The people of the land have oppressed the poor and needy and have extorted from the sojourner without redress' -- seems like a description of the countries where IJM works.
[AM PLENARY] 'The idea of God needing us as intercessors has completely changed my view of prayer' - KC
[AM PLENARY] 'I don't come sneaking into God's presence in prayer anymore...I come as one INVITED' -KC
[AM PLENARY] 'I kept looking for the fine print -- 'Ask in my name and you shall receive' seemed too easy, but 1 John 5.14-15 -- there's no fine print about this passage' - KC
[AM PLENARY] KC giving some of his favorite verses to pray in seeking justice for the oppressed.
[AM PLENARY] When dealing with a corrupt official, pray Proverbs 21.1 -- the heart of the king is in the hands of the Lord.
[AM PLENARY] When faced with a powerful perpetrator, pray Psalm 10.15 'Break the arm of the oppressor...'
[AM PLENARY] Pray believing Isaiah 16.4 'Oppressors have completely disappeared from the land...'
[AM PLENARY] 'When we pray in tumultuous desperation against injustice, we show faith that only God can affect the circumstances...it is authentic.' KC
[AM PLENARY] As a field office director, KC had desperate requests -- for family adjustment, for better aftercare facilities, and for success in court --
[AM PLENARY] All three were answered. Specifically.
[AM PLENARY] After people prayed at GPG, Cambodia office got a multi-million grant for secure aftercare facilities and over 20 cases achieved success in court.
[AM PLENARY] 'Faith, when it meets with conflict -- it just laughs. Though we don't know HOW, change will come.' - KC
[AM PLENARY] 'Crying out to God on behalf of the oppressed is more than His will -- it's His passion'
[AM PLENARY] The King is GOOD -- a brothel in Cambodia transformed into a Christian care center where where former victims now mentor others.
[AM PLENARY] We can pray believing: 'The oppressor has COMPLETELY ceased from the land.' - KC
[AM PLENARY] Lamont up next -- 'Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord...'
[AM PLENARY] 'You are the everlasting God -- you do not faint you won't grow weary...Defender of the weak, you comfort those in need and lift us up on wings like eagles.'
[AM PLENARY] More than I've heard before, this song is being sung from the souls of the hundreds here -- it's a cry for justice, not just a sweet worship tune...
[AM PLENARY] Woman told Lamont in Cambodia that she believed change was possible she could see that they 'believe in the transformation of the human heart...'
[AM PLENARY] 'Lord loose the chains of oppression -- Lord set the captive free -- Shine your light in me --'
[AM PLENARY] I love it when songs are declarations, prayers, hope-filled and soul-driven -- GPGers are here because the really believe that change has come and it's coming through us.
[AM PLENARY] Bethany Hoang introing IJM Aftercare staff -- these are seriously the IJM heroes...Kathy (HQ), Angel, Weng and Mia (IJM Manila)
[AM PLENARY] Mia is the director of IJM Manila
[AM PLENARY] Weng has been on Aftercare staff in Manila for 7 yrs -- leading girls to new lives post-rescue
[AM PLENARY] Angel is an IJM client -- part of IJM Manila's S.T.A.R. (Standing Together to Advocate Rights) program -- amazing leader for other just-rescued girls. Over 8 yrs after case was taken, Angel is happy, healthy, beautiful and studying Mass Comm in University
[AM PLENARY] Kathy directs global aftercare for IJM -- it looks different in different regions, in some areas providing tangibles to start new lives, in some focusing on physical and emotional trauma rehab.
[AM PLENARY] Kathy asking you to pray BOLDLY for aftercare around the world
[AM PLENARY] Angel 'Before anything else, I want to thank all of you who have prayed for me before. I am an ANSWER to your prayers.' -- unreal
[AM PLENARY] Angel also asking for prayer for other IJM Manila clients -- esp those that are just beginning healing process.
[AM PLENARY] Weng says the ultimate goal of Aftercare is to see real LIFE CHANGE. She wants to see girls changed from 'glory to glory'. Pray for the girls and for the encouragement to IJM Manila staff --
[AM PLENARY] ...also pray for protection and wisdom for IJM clients, that God's protection and grace would always be upon them
