good afternoon and welcome to the FoxFest liveblog! we'll be keeping you abreast of all the shenanigans at the Fox & Firkin in Lewisham over the next two days as we're treated to non-stop musics
due to technical difficulties (ie 3mobile broadband is rubbish) updates are on hold for now, apologies
but I can tell you we've been treated to the acoustic stylings of Heath, and are ears are currently being assaulted by the powerful sound of Let Our Enemies Beware
during soundcheck there was a bt of a riff off between the LOEB and Grim Hilde, the former being powerful metal and the latter acoustic, highly edifying
next up, Wonk Unit
currently on the phone to O2 customer services - not what I thought I'd be doing at this time
there's a good crowd in the pub and the garden, the cider is flowing, I'm stuck upstairs :(
O2 cannot help me, aargh! anyone have a mobile broadband I can borrow? :p right, next...
the saga continues... but in the meantime we have heard from Grim Hilde, who finished off a lovely loud set with a rendition of Metallica's 'Seek and Destroy'. currently on the acoustic stage is the Fox's very own Shaun Grimsley

Right, now we're getting somewhere, perhaps I can enjoy some music! Shaun's just finishing up, and next we'll be treated to 'Monkish'. I once went to a mini festival in the grounds of a monastery in Aylesford; a monk played a mate's drums, and was very good. Why be a monk when you can drum? Keith Moon showed us what happens to a drummer with a habit...
Monkish on stage; 2 guitarists, a bassist, drummer, 2 vocalists and a cool pair of red shades. What's the music like? Think Black Sabbath, then add some Beastie Boys and a bit of Pistols
I think this song might be a bit rude, he keeps making fisting motions
a bit of a jazz intro there... Then shouty shouty... The audience appears to have thinned somewhat
In the garden you can purchase fabulous pretty things from a couple of fabulous pretty ladies, eg handmade hairclips, brooches, hats, at very reasonable prices
And there's live knitting!

This one could be put to an 80s montage, in a good way. I have a problem with that song in Team America that says 'even Rocky had a montage'; it's the definitive montage, so it shouldn't be 'even Rocky'. If Gordon Brown had a montage it would work; 'you gotta have a montage, even Gordon Brown had a montage', see? Although it doesn't scan right...
This is interesting stuff, shame the crowd isn't bigger; get down here!

What do drummers have against clothing their top half?
Not sure I agree with that earlier characterisation (Yokoko-like), not as poppy at all; sounding a bit like Three Colours Red, perhaps. Big crowd, we likes it!
Nah, much better than TCR. Quite atmospheric heavy melodic rock pop. Or am I just stringing words together?
That intro made me think of No Doubt; it's the harmonies and guitar. Gone a bit Placebo now, but without the rubbishness

Still with 23 Frames; current tune is 'Basilisks' and it rocks, a real dancy number. Making me think of Dogs Die in Hot Cars, but heavier. I'm also after the singer's Lost Boys t-shirt.

The pub is set up with a stage at either end so the music can be non-stop. The crowd moves en masse every half an hour or so, the whole thing resembling a slow and sedate game of british bulldog
I think 630 is a good time to start drinking; texts from about 9 will be either more or less amusing
Miss Jo Williams fighting against the chat and growing inebriation of FoxFesters. If you like Polly Paulusma, Idha, Gwendolyn or Regina Spektor, you'll be a fan
Hindley are entertaining us with some very much of the moment indie stylings; think Bloc Party etc
Just seen Alex and Myles of Kooba Radio, off to record something in the shed at the bottom of the garden
Hindley seem popular with some of the Festers; must admit I can't get on with this sonic pop type stuff myself
