As a content owner, Amazon has made big waves by using cloud computing services. Cloud computing offers a fast, scalable and consistent virtual distribution infrastructure, which is expected to rapidly evolve how content is distributed online.

Kurt: Are we ready for this new operating system?
Jeff: Young people look at technology and say why is this computer not connected. It seems strange you would own one and not. It is not taken for granted.

Jeff: there is not economically way to scale in the old way. Cloud Computing takes that out of the equation. It scales as necessary and gives back when the resources are not required.
Jeff: 6 years ago Amazon started down this part. Gives users a very flexible services. Need a render farm. Start one up. If you have to do the render in half the time, double your Cloud bandwidth.
Kurt: Lots of reasons to use it. Jeff Bezos - "Out source the muck"

you build all the hardware externally you will never be as big as you need to be.
Kurt: Who's using it.
They were able to scale at any time to meet the demand of there spikes in business.
Podango lets podcasters host and manage their own shows or stations using the company’s hosting, syndication, audience measurement and Web site creation tools. The company also offers publishers an embeddable podcast player for use in websites. Hosting their programs at Podango for free, station owners earn income by sharing advertising revenue from the aggregate of Podango-hosted stations.

Developers are now developing services in the cloud to service people in the cloud.
Jeff: You just create you account, attach an credit card and you are i the cloud. Now have 370, 000 developers registered.
