And that was my reaction to the end of last night’s episode.
How is everyone feeling after that cliffhanger? Welcome to the Breaking Bad chat. Before I start with the comments and questions, I took a look at the poll. It seems like most of you think Gomie is gonna be buried out there in the desert. Hank is a close second.
Which leads me to the first question of the chat:
@littleb - I think that we could have more than one death in that shoot out, but I have to say that Hank looks like a frontrunner to die simply because he called his wife (Marie) and told her he loved her. Usually that means the character is a goner. I hope I'm wrong though. I like Hank.
I agree that both Hank and Gomez are in a tough spot. The only thing between them and certain death is that S.U.V. The white supremacist gangsters have them outnumbered...and then there's Jesse cowering in the car. Urgh! The desert is a lonely place.
@Grasu - Yeah, Todd's uncle and his gang of thugs are protecting Walt as their investment. If he dies - they don't get rich. It makes sense that they didn't listen to him when Walt called off the hit.
@jay - I agree. This whole season seems like it's been turned up a notch or two. The writers only had 8 episodes to end it all and tie up loose ends, so there's so much more action than in previous slow-build seasons. But yeah, this episode was especially crazy.
@Alex - If Hank dies (and I hope he doesn't) we might see Walt at his lowest point. Walt was very vulnerable in this episode and was almost human for a few minutes when he was begging Jesse over the phone not to take his money. The one line Walt didn't want to cross was killing family. So if Hank is shot and killed, Walt's gonna completely loose it. I think.
@PlanetOzzy - HA! Good point. Maybe Walt was just really paranoid because he knew he was out-smarted for once. And by Hank. I don't really think Walt ever thought that was possible. So he smashed up his phone.
@Meth Damon - Yeah, poor Gomie. If he dies, I'll really miss his jokes around the office.
@Brian - Yeah, there is A LOT of ammo.
@billy - Well, with her husband chasing down her meth-maker brother-in-law, I think she has a lot on her plate. Probably isn't sleeping or eating like she used to. It will be interesting to see if her poison research will come back into play in the final episodes.
@Brian - Absolutely. And if anyone finds that cell phone (I'm assuming it was bugged) they might have a case against him too. Walt admitted to poisoning Brock, running over drug dealers and killing Gus Fring all over the phone.
@Shane Nyberg - I saw Jesse reaching for the car door, but I don't think we see anything else. I guess we can assume he got out? It's hard to hide in the desert though. Yeah, maybe that ricin was meant for Todd's gang. Walt's not a fan, 'cos they're making him cook, so that would make sense.
@James - Yeah Todd IS creepy. The way he tried to put the moves on Lydia? Shudder.
@Kentonk - Well, poor Huell must have liked Jesse. And then he saw a pic of 'Jesse's brains'. I guess he has a heart.
So many theories and creator Vince Gilligan never gives up much by way of teasers. I hope you guys can last these next 6 days and come back for a chat the same time next Monday. Thanks for all the questions and comments, it was really fun!
