  • Craziness w/ google maps using an 'alternative interface' (eg. voice recognition). Try to zoom into a map using keyboard accessibility!

  • D created a keyboard accessible environment using the gmaps api with their default interface elements disabled. He then used some button elements (easy to use via keyboard) to add the interface.

  • Flickr example.
Can't "click" on the image title to edit it with only a keyboard. However they have a simple workaround: supply an alternative link. In the sidebar there's a text link to edit the title/tags/etc.

  • Derek is talking about exposing nubbins on the 37signals sites (BaseCamp specifically). ;)

  • Simple accessibility thing: label elements around radio/checkbox elements. duh.

However, what happens when a disabled person gets on a site that DOESN'T do this? They can use a user-script (greasemonkey?) to resize the radio buttons.

  • "Flickr is driven by joy." Nice quote. That's how I imagine it!

  • Talking about using the Operator firefox add-on to leverage microformat locations used in google maps. Makes it really easy/fast to add locations to an address book.

  • CMS section in the microformats wiki. Lots of plugins available for popular blogs/etc... wordpress, mt, etc

  • getsatisfaction.com

Good example of user signup process. Uses microformats to grab user info from other web sites so you don't have to fill it all in again.

  • Single box sign-up form. Scrapes internets for your hCard and gets all your details that way. You just enter a url/nickname/whatever and away it goes.
by Wesley Hodgson at 8/19/2008 7:50:09 PM
  • Consider implementing OpenID in addition to hCard, but don't sacrifice user experience.|
