Michael De Monte

Chief Executive Officer

Michael started in the new media business in 1983 just before Apple revolutionized the world of publishing with the introduction of the Apple Macintosh. He remembers buying his first 128K Mac and thinking - this will change everything. Since that day he has been apart of every major publishing revolution as it happened. The end of typesetting with digital page layouts, CD-ROM's as the new medium for big data, desktop video and the studio in your lap, the internet and the dawn of community and today the age of social.

He founded ScribbleLive in 2008 with Jonathan Keebler when they met at the largest media company in Canada. Having been responsible for over a dozen Content Management Systems, the both witnessed the barriers that impeded the newsroom and content creators and envisioned a product that would allow real-time collaborative storytelling. Today ScribbleLive serves millions of readers with billions of minutes of content every month and has the largest media and corporate clients using our platform every day...and they're are just getting started.

Jonathan Keebler

Chief Technology Officer

Jonathan has been developing web applications for 14 years, and holds a degree in Computer Science from the University of Toronto. Prior to founding ScribbleLive, he ran the development team for Canada's largest broadcaster, and was responsible for the content management systems used by multiple news properties and a complete rebuild of broadband video players used by dozens of websites.

In 2008, Jonathan founded ScribbleLive with Michael De Monte. He wrote and maintained the entire codebase himself for the first year, and continues to stay actively involved in the development of the product to this day. Jonathan's experience working with newsrooms and supporting massive traffic loads have given him the unique perspective to guide the growth of the ScribbleLive platform.

Jonathan lives and works in Toronto. He enjoys horseback riding, and his dog Sandy can be found running around the ScribbleLive offices.

Vince Mifsud

Chief Financial Officer and VP of Business Development

Vincent Mifsud has held various C-level positions in the technology sector including Chief Executive Officer of Genesis Worldwide, Chief Operating Officer of Pivotal Corp. and Chief Financial Officer at Rand Technologies.

During his tenure at Rand, the company grew from a $30 million private company to a $300 million public company over a 5 year period with 70 offices worldwide. Similarly at Pivotal, the company grew from $10 million to $95 million in revenue providing software solutions in 35 countries globally and was selected by Deloitte & Touche as one of the top 10 fastest growing technology companies in North America. At Genesis, the company became the global leading provider of green structural building solutions which was utilized in over 350 projects, representing over 10 million square feet of building area.

Vincent is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto.

Kate Fairhurst

VP of International Markets

Kate has been building digital media businesses since the turn of the millennium and specializes in working with news organizations to create resilient new revenue streams.

In her role as VP International, Kate heads up ScribbleLive's European team based in London. She also works with our news agency partners to develop live blogging strategies which allow them to modernize traditional newswire services and help them monetize their content.

Prior to joining ScribbleLive, Kate spent more than 6 years at the Press Association, the UK's national news agency, where she headed up the PR and Content for Marketing businesses, launching a number of new services to provide brands with digital communications and marketing solutions. For the past two years she has also worked as a mentor to digital media startups and has worked with a number of ventures on their commercial strategies and business plans.

John Clarke

VP of Sales

John is a 20 year veteran of sales, marketing and business development. He brings a unique combination of ten years experience in Tier 1 packaged goods marketing and ten years as a digital evangelist. He helped transform Trader Media, a traditional publishing company into an online classified powerhouse and led media sales teams at one of the world’s greatest digital innovators, Google.

At ScribbleLive he continues to champion efforts to help the world’s top media organizations and online marketers embrace the digital media ecosystem to deliver their business goals.

Gary Rubinoff

Managing Partner at Summerhill Venture Partners

Gary brings over 19 years of venture investing experience. He focuses on a broad range of opportunities including mobile computing, cloud computing, broadband communications and digital media. Gary is based in Boston and represents Summerhill on the board of Jumptap and Scribble Technologies. For the 9 years prior to joining Summerhill Venture Partners, Gary was a partner at J.L. Albright Venture Partners LP and Jefferson Partners LP, both Wireless and IT focused VC funds based in Toronto. Gary's wide range of experience in finance, law and entrepreneurial management, enables him to play a significant role in financing and growing emerging technology companies. Past investments include Intellon (Acquired by Atheros, NASDAQ: ATHR), Sandbridge (acquired by a Fortune 500 company), BridgePort (acquired by CounterPath, TSX: CCV), Service Soft (acquired by Kana Software, NASDAQ: KANA), Isolation Systems (acquired by Shiva/Intel, NASDAQ: INTC), I-star internet (TSE IPO and acquired by PSI Net), and Wescam Inc. (TSE IPO: WSC). Gary is a member of Young Presidents Organization (YPO), Ontario Chapter, a Leader of Sick Kids Hospital Foundation (Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto), and an active fundraiser for Juvenile Diabetes. Gary holds a LLB from the School of Law, University of Western Ontario, and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business.

Michael Lee

Vice President of Venture Investments at Rogers Ventures

Mr. Michael Lee serves as Venture Advisor of Relay Ventures. Mr. Lee serves as a Vice President of Venture Investments at Rogers Ventures. Mr. Lee serves as Managing Director for Rogers Ventures Partners. Mr. Lee served as the Chief Strategy Officer at Rogers Communications Inc. He was responsible for strategy development, business development, and strategic partner management for Rogers Ventures's group of companies which include Rogers Cable, Rogers Wireless, and Rogers Media. Previously, Mr. Lee served as a Vice President of Strategy and Development at Rogers Cable, where he managed the development of new businesses and services for video, high speed internet, and telephony. He has been a Director of Espial Group, Inc. since July 29, 2008. Mr. Lee serves as a Member of Business Advisory Council of The Blackberry Partners Fund, L.P. He serves as a Director of Zoove Corp. He serves as a Member of Technical Advisory Board at Sigma Systems Canada Inc.

John A. Francis

Managing Director at Fraser Kearney Capital Corp.

Mr. John A. Francis serves as the Managing Director at Fraser Kearney Capital Corp. From 1994 to 2006, he served as the President and Chief Executive Officer at Trader Media Corporation. In 2005, Trader Media was sold to Yellow Pages Income Fund and Mr. Francis served as its Chief Executive Officer till June 2006. He continues to consult Yellow Pages in the area of vertical media. Mr. Francis was a Vice President of Trader Media Corporation in 1990. His role was to make three concurrent acquisitions, which materially changed the scale of the company by expanding the operation into all major Ontario markets. In 1990, when Mr. Francis rejoined Trader Media, he made three concurrent acquisitions which changed the scope of the company. From 1988 to 1990, he worked in Los Angeles doing merger and acquisition transactions with Mr. David Murdock. Mr. Francis began his career in New York in 1986 as an Analyst in the Mergers and Acquisitions department of Goldman Sachs. He has over 15 years of experience in the investment and business community. Mr. Francis is a Director of MacNicol & Associates Asset Management Inc. and a Member of Advisory Board of Summerhill Venture Partners. He is an undergraduate of distinction from the Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.
